68. 2010-08-13 16:15:35, Corey - Hi Tim! Corey again.
As an addendum, here's what IE8 says for the error:

Message: Syntax error
Line: 19
Char: 1
Code: 0
URI: configure.pl

I had to chop out the rest of the url so this comment would submit.

67. 2010-08-13 16:10:48, Corey - Hi Tim!
Feedback for Timidity and the auto configuration tool. Um, the config tool doesn't create a cfg file (win7 x64, timidity installed to default dir), and I tried it on IE8, Firefox 3.6, and Opera 10.6. The auto config tool page's javascript is broken in all 3 browsers. When it pops up the box to say "Please leave feedback", the browser then says "errors on page" in the status bar.
Timidity did not create a config file when it was installed, nor run. There is no timidity.cfg file anywhere on my C drive. There is also no tim*.cfg file anywhere. So, I cannot use any soundfonts.

66. 2010-06-14 00:01:59, Michael Oliveira - Hi!!

I liked a lot of your TimGM6mb.sf2

Can I add it into a brand new Haiku OS operating system (a BeOS clone), as midi synth?

Haiku OS is free and opensource (MIT licensed).

Do you can write an express permission for that?

Thank you for your awesome work!

my email is michaelvoliveira@yahoo.com.br

65. 2010-06-01 14:37:22, anonymous - I have two questions:
1. Why does the Merlin Vienna soundfont sound EXACTLY like the TimGM6mb soundfont? Does it have to do with how old my pc is (Sony Vaio, Windows ME, Pentium 3 ~866Mhz)?

2. Why not provide an SfArk extractor download for your Soundfonts? When I realized SfPack didn't work, I had to search Google for TWO HOURS to get what I needed.

As I am unable to access my email with how old my PC is, I don't know if you could answer this inquiry of mine, but it's worth a shot.

61. 2009-11-02 01:05:38, Chris - HI Tim! It's me, Chris again! My e-mail is manowarking2001@yahoo.gr. I have 2 questions, I would be grateful if you could answer them. The first problem is that timidity opens only the soundfonts that have many instruments, the Gm instuments standard . It doesn't open soundfonts with one instrument for example sitar.sf2
The second problem is general! It's not a problem of timidity. I created a song and exported to midi (with guitarpro). But when I open the midi file with guitarpro it doesn't recognize the note effects like bends, vibratos, trems, palm mute etc. I can't see the bends, the tremolos and other effects I put!!
Winamp plays the midi correct but Guitarpro doesn't. For example if I have put on a note bend, it just plays the note without bend. Also flstudio another program that does midi to wav rendering has the same problem. It doesn't recognize the effects on the midi notes of the midi file. So the song sounds wrong.
I would be glad if you could help me and send an e-mail! Have a nice day!!!

Note: Chris, sorry but I am not familiar with guitarPro. I use Noteworthy Composer for my compositions. You can also edit midi with Jazz++ midi sequencer:

50. 2008-07-28 01:18:19, Capoverde - Hello Tim,

thanks a lot for your work with Timidity + soundfonts, it's a real gift to MIDI musicians.

Up to now I've been using Timidity under Linux, but it will be great to have it working also with Win$.

Sadly, despite repeated trying, I could not get more than a few seconds of your "Waltz of Ghouls", there's probably a server problem; anyhow it sounds quite interesting and very well made.

Cheers!

Capoverde.

49. 2008-06-06 02:49:49, rtnario - Wow, not only did you develop the Timidity program along with soundfonts, you compose really well!

Also, it's pretty awesome that we use the same program to compose too...damn, I'd like to learn how to make my MIDIs as dynamic as yours XD

I wish you good luck with your future. And as a bonus, I'm putting a link to this site on mine:

"hxxp://leafxceed.exofire.net" (replace with http)

See ya! ^_^
