Did anyone try to emulate through an fpga?
ttps://sgi.neocities.org/installguide.html recommends the "overlay 1" .iso from|
https://winworldpc.com/product/irix/6522, but that is corrupt.
The boot command in Command Monitor fails "error on vh read" ... "unable to load dksc(0,6,8)sashARCS: no such device."
I also can't mount that .iso, in linux or windows.
Downloading from either mirror yields the same .7z file.
Unzipping on linux or windows yields the same .iso.
Does anyone else still have a mirror of it?
(I found only dead links. Maybe someone else in this guest book?)
Or can I somehow skip this file and somehow make or get a hard disk image
that has Irix already installed?
Finally, is there a way to preserve the results of the Command Monitor commands
that must be typed before this point, so they don't need to be retyped every time
I try a new .iso?
I'm wondering if it is possible to build a JIT compiler for this project, as JIT is platform-specific maybe it is a good idea to turn things faster.
This project is fantastic. Iam a industry vfx artist so I always dreamed with an SGI to myself.
Actually I'm waiting for an SGI emulator about 15 years and now it is finally happening! It is a shame that Amiga and ZX Spectrum has so much love these days but SGI.
I really wish to contribute with some money to keep this project going! How to donate? I reckon the other guys here also may consider donating.
What are the next steps for the project? How many developers are working on it?
Thanks so much! my page: vimeo.com/rodtd
Awesome! I've looked forward for SGI emulation for years... if only had I guessed it would happen in MAME.|
Side note: to get the mouse working in Windows, I needed to add the following to MAME the command line:
./chdman -createhd -ss 512 -chs 128,16,96000 -c none -o irix65.chd|
This command didn't work for me, it seems or at least what worked for me was no dash before createhd
can i install (emulator) IRIX on my macbook air(2017).thanks.
Just want to say thank you for this. SGIs were a dream for me. I am glad that you explained it so that it is followable.|
good stuff! Would the indigo2 port run faster than the indy one?
Can you tell me how you can run IRIX 5.3?
Do I need to use the same files (ps2_keybc.zip, ip24prom.070-9101-011.bin) or some others?
Where can I get a disk image with IRIX 5.3 installed?
Denis Kozlov V.,
How can I extract resources from this?|
I want the icons and backdrops out of IRIX.
Very interesting to see that a SGI Indy is already an object of "complete emulation". Thanks for collecting these links to allow more people getting a glimpse of the past - SGI made fantastic machines and espacially a truely shining UNIX GUI !! Probably this Your side helps to spread this information into the world - years after the collapse of this flagship of the computer industrie in the nineties. It lives along, hopefully some more years and years to come (the more the better, performancewise) - and every Computeruser nowadays uses their idea of how 3D Computergraphis should behave and work.|
Fine Idea to illustrate the Start-Screen with clickable MiniIcons !
hey Phil, try the Wayback Machine
None as far as you know
Hey the link to the IRIX disk image returns a 404 for me, but the wayback machine version works fine.
Is there any way to improve the performance of the emulation (speed/clock) and if so, how?|
Fantastic!! Was my dream when I was a young!!
Super cool idea and project, IRIX emulation. Please keep it updated. Thank you!
